I see difference too with rc.

I can definitely state that rc is about 30% slower than beta on the same machine.

And sometimes becomes not slow but…laggy

Very disappointed because I was waiting rc to be just like beta with some improvements of-course…

I’ll wait and see…

im very disappointed with windows 7 RC’s perfomence.

though i have good configuration it sucks every time like loading my computer,deleting files,copy paste………

Windows 7 runs like a three legged dog! I can dual boot and put windows 7 rc1 in its own boot partition on a Dimension 8400 with 4gigs. I have never seen anything so sluggish in my life. I cannot imagine that this got out of Microsof’s QA without someone noticing the poor performance of RC1

I also want to share my disappointment with the performance of Windows 7 RC vs. Windows 7 Beta on my Laptop, an older HP DV2100, intel-based.

Windows 7 Beta was very fast, however Win7RC´s performance has diminished so much in the last few weeks that I´m considering re-installing the OS to try to get back the speed it originally had…! That´s something I would´ve never thought of while testing Win7Beta (7000)… I also “feel” a 30% drop in performance overall. No benchmarks done, but the OS feels slow the whole time.

Note: I did the same software installs as in Win7Beta, all common software (Office, Picasa, etc). “Balanced” Power Mode.

Umm im thinking of installing the Win7RC on my Dell Inspiron 1525 Laptop thats less than ayear old. It says it takes up 16GB of hard drive space, and i have 63GB of 136 left. So I’m not totally sure as it may just slow my entire OS down. Hmm im not entirely sure about it and if it screws my computer up I’ll be really pissed

boweb: Thx for the feedback on your Win7RC speed findings from nTune and ATItools. Did you check your power management settings? In a follow-up item here I noticed that Win7RC had set the desktop PC I am testing it on (along with my netbook) to Balanced Power instead of Performance. In fact, the High Performance option was hidden in the power settings menu.

Yes, I can confirm this too.
Windows 7100 RC 1 is 30% slower on the video end when installed
on my T7500 intel laptop.

I find this extremely disappointing as i was expecting 10% more, or
at least the same as the W7 7000 release.

Furthermore, overclocking the GPU did not make any noticeable difference..!?
Tested this with nTune and ATItools. Somehow performance did
not at more then 4 to 5%..

There is going to be hell about this.
