Windows Vista Photo Screen Saver Displays Video Too

I copied over a bunch of photos and the two AVI video files that I recorded during a conference I attended this week to my notebook. This morning I noticed that the Photo screen saver I use displayed the AVI files as well as the JPEG images as part of the rotating photos displayed in the screen saver. The video was played with audio turned off.

However, if you have a quicktime video in the same folder as your photos, the Windows Vista Photo Screen Saver may very well lock up your machine. The screensaver is not smart enough to play competitor’s video formats, even with the codecs installed.

Anyone has a same problem with me?
My ‘photo screensaver’ won’t play any video sometimes. It was okay before. I’m not sure whether the windows/driver update, this problem appear.
    Any suggestion?

Just started having the same problem. Started after vista sp1 was installed. The screen saver (photos) worked ok before and played the videos no problem. Now it locks up after awile and I have to do a ctl alt del to get it to unlock. Do not have to shut down though
    Any solutions?

Im having the same problem. This is a perfect solution for digital signage, but what’s the deal with no audio? and yes, sometimes the videos dont play. Its kinda random.

Audio? HEY MICROSOFT!?!?! Can I get a little audio for my screensaver?
